MLB and the MLBPA try to map out the 2020 season
Can the 2020 MLB Season be Saved?
Baseball fans from all over the world have been expecting some news about the beginning of the MLB season, and according to some sources, we could be getting close to an agreement.
It has not been easy, and many different options have been going around the media in the past few days, but what’s most important here is that both the league and the MLB Players Association want to go ahead and start the season as soon as possible.
The league made a formal proposal already, which included an 82-game regular season, alleging that the more games teams play this year, the more money the league will lose. However, this proposal was quickly dismissed by the MLBPA, as the players are obviously concerned about their salaries, among other things.
So, with this in mind, the MLBPA came up with a new proposal for 114-game regular season, which would be played from June 30th to October 31st, deferred salaries in the event of a cancelled postseason, as well as the option for all players to opt out of the 2020 season due to Coronavirus concerns. The proposal also includes expanded playoffs for two years, potential All-Star Game and Home Run Derby during the offseason, a salary advance and a few other minor details.
The thing here is that, the Players Association actually expects the MLB to reject this proposal immediately, but for it to work as a base for a new agreement, something in between this and what the league had originally proposed. So, for now, we keep waiting for confirmation.
Who’s favorite to win the 2020 MLB World Series?
Going back to what concerns us, which is sports and gambling, let’s remember that the LA Dodgers and New York Yankees are the two big favorites to reach the World Series this season, the Dodgers are paying +325 to win it all, while the Yankees pay just a bit more, +350. Houston Astros +800 are next, and then we have the Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Twins and Washington Nationals, on top of the list.
