Baccarat is one of the simplest casino card games that you can play at any online casino or venue. This is because gamblers only have three options to bet on. They can bet on the “Player”, the “Banker” or on a “Tie”. In addition, the casino dealer does most of the work in the game. Therefore, gamblers can spend their time focusing on the game and their online casino strategies.
How to Play Baccarat – The Game Play
In baccarat, the goal of the game is to have the hand you are betting be the best hand possible. There are three possible options you can bet on, the “Player”, the “Banker” or a “Tie”. Not counting the tie, the winning hand is the one with a score that is closest to nine. The score comes from adding up the value of each card for each hand.
In a normal game of Baccarat, the dealer uses 6-8 deck of cards. The game begins when the dealer deals a hand on the table to the “Player” and the “Banker”. At the beginning of the game, each of them gets dealt 2 cards. The “Player” gets dealt first, then the “Banker” and gets repeated again until both have 2 cards.
In the game of baccarat, face cards are worth 0 and aces count as 1. The rest of the cards are worth their pip value. The pips are the dots on a playing card that are clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades.
Therefore, if the “Player” or Banker has a face card and an 8, the score is 8, not 18. In addition, if a hand shows a 3 and a 4, then the value of the hand is 7. However, if a hand shows a 9 and an 8, then the value of the hand is 7.
Simple enough right? The only twist in the game is when the “Player” or “Banker” needs to take a third card.

Natural Win – This is when the points total is 8 or 9 for Player’s or the Banker’s hand on the first two cards. When this happens, it is known as a natural win and the game is over.
However, if neither hand is an 8 or 9, the dealer may draw another card on one or more hand. Whether that is done or not will depend on the following rules.
Third Card for the Player – If the player’s hand is 0–5, they draw a third card. That is unless the Banker has an 8 0r a 9 which is a natural win. In such as case, the banker wins and no more cards are drawn. On a 6 or 7 the player stands.
Third Card for the Banker – If the player has 6 or higher, the banker acts just like the player. They draw a third card with hands 0–5, stands with 6 or 7, natural with 8 or 9. However, if the player drew a third card, the banker acts according to the following rules associated with the score:
- 0, 1, 2: Banker draws a card, regardless of what the player’s third card is.
- 3: Banker draws a third card unless the player’s third card was an 8.
- 4: Banker draws a third card if the player’s third card was 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
- 5: Banker draws a third card if the player’s third card was 4, 5, 6, or 7.
- 6: Banker draws a third card if the player’s third card was a 6 or 7.
- 7: Banker stands.
Betting on a Tie – This is when the Player and the Banker finish with the same number of points.
